My name is Todd Walker & I own a residential property management company in South Florida. For 18 years, we have managed over $400 million worth of homes for seasonal residents. We regularly walk into homes for our weekly inspections & discover water damage from the air-conditioning system.
When the a/c condensate drain line is clogged, the water backs up into the a/c unit drain pan, then the emergency pan & finally overflows into the home causing water & mold damage. Currently, there is a safety float switch at the condensate line & in the emergency pan wired to the air handler to stop the water overflow. Unfortunately, safety float switches can fail.
14,000 people per day experience a water event at home or work causing $13 billion annually in water damage claims. $1.2 Billion of water damage claims are from clogged a/c drain lines.
The average cost for flood damage repairs is $10,000 - $12,000 per event with an average insurance deductible of $2,500. The AC Flood Guard provides homeowners the peace of mind that they will not go through the stress and expense of a flood from their air conditioner.
Only 42% of homeowners use a professional a/c service company to regularly service their a/c system(s). As a result, the drain line is not regularly being cleaned out and the safety float switch is not being tested regularly.
Our Patented system will manually turn off a toggle switch wired to the air handler when the safety float switch fails. The overflow water container is attached to a wire that is physically attached to the toggle switch. When the container fills with the overflow water from the clogged condensate line, the weight of the container will physically turn off the toggle switch (average lifespan of a toggle switch is 20 years). Our system is not an electrical part with a limited operating life. As a result, our system does not require regular testing and replacement. Also, our system can be used in place of a safety float switch.
